LAS VEGAS, Nevada - November 21, 2005 - EV Rental Cars announced today that it will make its all-hybrid fleet of vehicles available for rent at McCarran International Airport through an exclusive agreement with US Rent A Car.
EV Rental Cars is planning to place up to 500 hybrid rental vehicles in Las Vegas giving the resort destination claim to the largest hybrid rental fleet in the world.
"Las Vegas is one of the busiest rental car markets in the world," said EV Rental Cars chairman and chief executive officer, Jeff Pink. "There are thousands of vehicles rented here every day and they're dumping thousands of tons of carbon monoxide into the environment every year. As an environmental company first, we recognize the air quality challenges of the Las Vegas Valley and the unique opportunity they present for us to help improve the local environment while at the same time operating a viable business."
"Everyday we receive dozens of requests for hybrid vehicles," said US Rent A Car President Maria Romano. "Now we have a unique opportunity to provide our customers with a rental car that not only gives them what they want, but also provides the environment with what it needs."
EV Rental Cars and the Las Vegas Monorail
In addition to its offering at McCarran International Airport, EV Rental Cars is planning to create a substantial environmental presence on the Las Vegas Monorail.
"Right now our plan is to create an Environmental Learning Center on one of the Las Vegas Monorail stations and promote that venue in Las Vegas on one of the monorail trains," explained Pink.
The Environmental Learning Center will provide Las Vegas visitors with an opportunity to learn about various forms of alternative and renewable energy, environmental sustainability, the environmental programs of the State of Nevada and its casino resorts.
"By establishing a presence on the monorail station and train, we're creating an unprecedented opportunity to educate millions of people every year about the importance of playing an active role in local, regional, national and global initiatives that help the environment," said Pink.
"There is great synergy between EV Rental Cars Environmental Leaning Center and the Las Vegas Monorail," said Curtis Myles, president and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Monorail Company. "Jeff is doing everything he can on a personal and professional level to help improve the environment and we're doing the same thing; each year the monorail takes more than 4.4 million automobile trips off the major roadways and reduces carbon monoxide by 135 tons per year. Together, we have a unique opportunity to educate locals and visitors alike about the importance of environmental sustainability and what can be done, by each individual, to help improve the environment now and well into the future."
